Madden Career Toolkit's Admin Area :: Optional Functions

In the first of what hopefully will be many optional features, MADCAT will now import roster CSV files into the database so that you can display full player ratings on your site.

Ratings, Contract, Special? WTF?

For the first time ever, the documentation will explain this!

One Touch Ratings Update and Upload a .CSV Ratings File

Both require a MADScout .csv file and will import ratings for players that are on a team, in the draft class*, or in the free agent pool.

One Touch Contract Update and Upload a .CSV Contract File

Both require the .csv stat report from Madden. All it does is import full contract info from the file.

One Touch 'Special' Update and Upload 'Special' CSV File

Both require a MADScout .csv file. They import retired players and the pro bowl rosters.

What is a Roster CSV?

Not a bad question at all. CSV stands for "comma separated values" and is a simple text file that can be read by spreadsheet and, now, MADCAT! A "Roster CSV" is a CSV file that contains Madden players and their ratings.

As of MADCAT 1.7, you can no longer import Madden CSV files, as they lack enough useful information. To get a CSV file, use the included MADscout utility

Included in MADCAT is MADscout, a modification of George Greer's terrific scouter program. This program was initially written to snag the draft class from the franchise file for those who like to cheat (just kidding). It will also snag the roster of any of the 32 teams in the NFL. I modified his remarkable program to include the IMP rating (which he had left out since rookies don't have one) and the player's team.

How to use the MADscout program is explained in the readme.txt file in the _MADscout directory. I'm not fully prepared to support this just yet, but you shouldn't have any problems.

So I've Got My CSV File, Now What?

Click on the Optional Functions button:

So I've Got My CSV File, Now What?

If you have just one .csv file to import, click the Browse button in the "Upload a .CSV Ratings File" form.

You'll get a standard Windows Open File window. Browse to the .csv file (Madden puts its .csv files in "My Documents/Madden NFL 2004/Stats/") and open the file you wish to import. Make sure the correct year is selected (if you always import a ratings file right after importing the standard Madden franchise logs, you'll never have to worry about the year here). Click the Upload button.

The "One Touch Ratings Update!" works the same as the version for importing franchise logs. Make sure the .csv files are NOT in the same directory as the logs! Both the importing of the logs and the importing of ratings would majorly mess up if you put them in the same directory

It Imported, Now What?

Right now, the only place the ratings are used is in ratings.php. It produces output like so (partial view):

More integration of the ratings into MADCAT is planned for future versions.
