Madden Career Toolkit 1.5 Release Notes

There are significant database changes in 1.5, so you MUST uninstall any exiting MADCAT installation and install 1.5 fresh.

Additions

  • Using NOMan78's excellent initial work on an Offseason Moves module, I added support for relocation (so that it doesn't list the entire roster of a relocated team) and created individual team offseason reports to finish up the complete package!
  • Added a listing of retirees for the previous season. It isn't perfect, because it will list any player that was left swimming in the free agent pool, but it lists all the actual retirees, so it's a good trade-off!
  • Added Team vs. Team Histories to vs.php
  • Added depth chart style roster viewer to depth.php
  • Added coach histories to coaches.php It needs some work, but it's a start
  • Added a table of name mappings for coaches, such that you can display full coach names instead of the crappy ones that are in the logs. This list can be maintained through the admin panel
  • Added Team Records to records.php
  • Added an "Acquired" entry to each player in the database. Through the admin panel you can now add information on how your team acquired the player. This will not display on the player card at all, unless you've entered something.

Tweaks

  • Draft data is no longer stored as a round number and pick number. It is now a single text entry where you can place any draft info you wish (such as "2.14", "Undrafted FA", "Walk-On" etc.) Thanks to Raistlin for idea!
  • Team pages now contain full coach names, linked to the new coach pages
  • Records in records.php are now secondarily sorted by year so that, in the case of a tie, the most recent record setter is listed first
  • Removed the empty "Overall Records" link and put the fumble records on its own page
  • Team color is now used the table header in prospects.php
  • Team color is now used the table header in rookies.php
  • The list of teams in the league almanac is now listed alphabetically by city
  • The list of middle names is now in a drop-down menu in the admin area
  • The list of middle names is now sorted alphabetically
  • Changed the default name for game stories to story.php and fullstory.php
  • Various new links added to almanac.php
  • Added several of the recently added features to the documentation.

Bugs Fixed

  • The admin panel would attempt to put the previous "My Team" in the "Add My Team" form, to save typing, but my code was silly and never worked!
  • The roster listing in roster.php was not using the team color for the table header
  • If you sorted the first or last column in a table, the border of the highlighted column wouldn't look right against the border of the table itself (this has been bugging me since version 1!)
  • The prospects page would read "2003 NFL Jets Top Prospects". The "NFL" has been removed
  • The rookies page would read "2003 NFL Jets Rookie Class". The "NFL" has been removed

Files Modified

If you do a lot of work customizing MADCAT, these are the only files you'll need to replace with the new versions.
  • MADCAT 1.5 is a major release. It's recommended you replace all files with the new versions.
