File Name :: Franchise-Roster Converter
Author :: packfan0820
Category :: 08 Utilities
Description
Created by Packfan0820. This program is provided as is. Requires the following:
-.NET 1.1
-.NET 2.0
-.NET 3.5

Link to Links

I released this program a while back, but it was in an obscure place that was hard to find if you didn't know where to look. Upon the request of another member, I am now putting it here.

To Operate:
Extract all the files to a folder on your computer. You must keep the blank.ros and tdbaccess.dll in the same folder as the exe file. Run the exe file (if you're running Vista, run as administrator). Click "Select Franchise File". Browse to the franchise file you wish to convert in the opened dialog box and select it and click on the "Open" button. Wait until it opens a dialog box saying "Conversion Complete". The path to the new file will be displayed in the dialog box.

Note: If the franchise is deep in, you may have to make some edits to the created roster to avoid salary cap issues. There is a way to modify the salary cap in the DATs, but the method is unknown to me.

Nice little utility ya got there pack!

Questions...

AFAIK the only real reason that this would be useful is when the franchise has hit, or is about to hit year 30. Has anyone looked into if there's a way to edit anything and go past 30 years in a franchise?

Wait--so you need all of those .NET's to make it work?

Okay, well it seems you mean we need all three. However, I only have 1.1 yet this utility seems to be working fine.

This was a great idea and it works very well.
I see myself using it often in the future.

It's part of the "better safe than sorry" mentality of programming. When the utility maker has all three .NET frameworks on his computer, it's tough to tell which ones he used and therefore you need. So, it's just easier to say you need all three.

Drewbaby, I believe you can go past 30 years if you are using the nfl teams like the Cowboys or the Giants or the Packers etc. and not created teams. This is because when you convert it into a roster all of the free agents and everything are there. I think you can.

Actually, it automatically ends after 30 years, no matter what team you're using...

I mean that you can convert it into a roster and then go to franchise, click new, and click on your team. That way you can do it longer but as a new franchise.

Every time I open a franchise in this tool it tells me it has an unhandled exception. It said this:

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I'm using 64 bit Vista and I ran it as administrator, I ran it in compatibility mode. I'm also pretty sure I have every .net because I downloaded 1.1 right after I got the comp. because I new that a lot of the editors only worked with 1.1 and all the others too. Can someone help?

Do you have .NET 3.5?

Is this a valid franchise file (just a guess since it seems as it tdbaccess is crapping out)?

I've been using the converter on this franchise for over ten years of this franchise. That was on XP though. It did work on my mom's Vista laptop though. That's 32 bit. I'll check if I have 3.5.

Hey nice work on the utility, works great...

But I have one problem though, when I start a new franchise with the roster I just converted, it always crashes because there is no free agent team showing up anywhere in the franchise file therefore it sends Madden back to the desktop.

Has anyone else ran into this problem?

@The Elite 31 I just realized that I didn't add that (it just takes the 32 teams and nothing else). I am going to make an update in due time, even though I am not obligated to do so at all.

Honestly, I haven't looked at the code for almost a year. I really don't remember how it does what it does.

The file format from 2003 and earlier is different than from 2003 and later. So, it would not work.

Thanks JD!

Pretty dissapointed.

Perhaps the excellent work you guys are doing on the mod will lead to this being cracked at some point?!
