As I have previously stated, I feel that Tom Brady is a over-hyped, self indulgent, whiney, lying, peice of crap! And I am a Wolverine fan! *painful*

Yes, Brady has SOME skills as a quarterback, but he is primarily a byproduct of the system he plays in and the team he is on.

Granted, he has won 2 SB's. yada,yada,yada.

Trent Dilfer won a superbowl and nobody gave him a second look.

I used to root for the patriots as my second teir team, but once they demoted Bledsoe and let Brady take the helm, I stopped rooting for them.

The New England Patriots make Brady good, not Tom.

I will bet you that if he went to another team with a different system, he would be no more then a mid-level quarterback.

Brady will never be a Favre, Manning, Elway, Marino, Aikman, or a Young.

I see Brady more as a Warren Moon, (which is giving him a bit more credit then he deserves as I like d Moon) in that he will always be fairly consistent, but never great.

Anyways.....BRING IT ON all you Brady FANBOYS! football.gif

the fact of the matter remains is that he's a winner. he was able to learn the pats system well, and make use of every single receiver on the team with no standout. brady is the man and there will be more SBs to come...GO PATS!

yeah, i agree with this. i don't think he's going to have his bust in Canton.

but he's still a very good quarterback. but hey, Kurt Warner was a very good quarterback, and look at him now. everyone has their day in the sun, doesn't mean they will be up there with the greats. Guys like Rich Gannon, Dante Culpepper, or even Vinny Testaverde.

brady is a real good qb...

Look at that last drive in the super bowl against the Rams.
The guys is cool, makes good decisions, and is a winner.

I don't get why everyone hates the Pats anyways.. is it because they have been sucessful in the last few years? Whats the big thing that makes everyone hate them so much!?

mad.gif Raistlin, You are SOOOOO right !!! When I hear some of the football experts start comprairing Brady to Joe Montana it makes me ill. Brady is a decent QB with some skills but he is a middle of the road QB blessed by a good team but not by the QB gods. Give me Farve any day of the week. Brady Is So Overrated.

There's 2 things that help to make a great QB. Ability and intelligence. Brady has shown intelligence, but I don't see him with any 'standout' ability. Simply put (like others have said) - he's the best fit in the system he's in. Put him in any other system and he fails. Why you ask? Because he lacks the outright ability to compete as a 'vertical passing game' QB. Even though it may not seem like much difference - but Brady has YET to average 7 yards a pass, while the other 'top' QB's are averaging about 7.5+ yards a pass. Again, it may not seem like much, but it shows that the short passing scheme he's currently in keeps him from throwing too many deep balls. Now, I didn't see every Pats game, so I don't know how he threw through the entire season, but from what I did see of him - the quick screens and 7 - 10 yard passes are what he seemed to stick to. To me, this doesn't say much in his ability to take it deep consistently. And this inability is why I think he is HIGHLY overrated as a premiere quarterback...... Just my opinion.

Wow...do I smell a hint of jealousy? I can't wait to hear all the Raider fans chime in on this one.

Like BU Pats said, "He is a winner."

Just because you don't have a super arm doesn't mean you can't be a great QB guys. By no means is he a GREAT QB yet, but Over-rated? I don't know about that. Brady RARELY gets sacked, he stays cool and calm in high pressure situations, is accurate with the passes in the Pats offensive system (I'll give you guys that one, he doesn't have the deep threat arm but then again te pats don't ask him to throw deep often...I have seen some very nice deep throws by Tom, he just needs to be more consistant with them), he is a leader on and off the field....and last but not least:

HAS WON TWO SUPER BOWLS ALREADY!

QUOTE (Raistlin @ Jun 13 2004, 05:00 AM)

Yes, Brady has SOME skills as a quarterback, but he is primarily a byproduct of the system he plays in and the team he is on.

Interesting post...as well as, replies! I had already formulated my response, when one of the last replies mentioned the very same QB I was thinking of...but, in a different context!

JOE MONTANA!

I tried to reply using the QUOTE thing, but not sure if it worked (POST VIRGIN!). Anyhow, adding on to the mention that:"...he (Brady) is primarily a byproduct..."

I have always felt that "Golden" Joe was very, VERY over-rated, and successful because of the enormous talent around him! My case will be substantiated when about a half dozen other 80's 49ers are enshrined into the Hall of Fame.

Remember how effective Joe was in poor weather, or when he was getting knocked to the brink of unconsciousness? Don't forget that he also threw to arguably the greatest NFL player in Rice, and worked under one of the greatest offensive minds in Walsh. Now don't get me wrong, he was also very, very good and may have cemented his GREATNESS if... well, that's another post!

As for the succession of blessed 49ers QBs, YOUNG was much better all-around (in my opinion) and they made a big mistake by letting GARCIA go.

TOM BRADY?

In conclusion, Brady is very good for the NFL and he may very well end up with 4, or even more (shudder the thought) Super Bowl rings! Is he GREAT or a product of a superb offensive system, surrounded with talented Pro Bowlers on both sides of the ball? I think most of us agree that he still has several more years of stellar performances to achieve that elusive "greatness"!

THANKS FOR READING...let the "bashing" and "feedback" commence! LOL!

How is he self-indulgent, whiney, or lying??? unsure.gif

Yes, Belichick's system does help him somewhat, but he is a good quarterback. He stays cool under pressure and never seems to get rattled. Look at the AFC Championship Game last year. Manning got more and more frustrated and lost his cool more and more the worse things got and the more INTs he threw. Brady throws an INT, but doesn't panic and just waits to get back on and make up for it.

With a supporting cast that has a no-name O-line, no standout WR, no superstar RB, he managed to lead them to 2 Super Bowls in three years. He might not be the next Dan Marino, but he is a good QB, probably behind only Manning and McNair.

That's like saying Jordan is over-rated. The best QB I've ever seen and he won a SB
5 years before Rice came to the NFL. wink.gif
But that's another post....

I never liked Chipmunk Cheeks (Brady) but after the Tuck Rule mad.gif is when I
believed Raider fans & some NFL fans liked him less.

He's a good QB, time will tell how good he'll be remembered. football.gif

Yea i thought that Chuck.. Thing is its not even like Brady made the rule or anything.. blink.gif

But from a New England point of view... I wouln't want any other QB apart from Brady under center for the Patriots.. thumbup.gif

ive never liked brady, u cant say that he is awesome cos hes won the sb twice... the qb always gets the spotlight but what about the rest of the team, defence was obviously more important to the patriots anyway.

i reckon delhomme outshone brady by a mile in last years sb but no1 is raving about him only cos they lost, he should of still got mvp imo. tongue.gif

ummmm no:

SUPER BOWL XXXVIII QB Stats:

J. Delhomme 16/33 323 yards 3TD 0 INT 1 Lost Fumble

T. Brady 32/48 354 yards 3TD 1 INT

That's pretty efficient....no doubt Delhome had a good game, but Brady was better.

What do you mean "fairly consistant, but never great" all great QB's have to be consistant you can't be a wiining QB with arm strength alonebut I do agree on one thing I would not put himin a class with QB's such as Young, or Elway but he is one of the better QB's of our time. He is reliable and intelligent and he knows how not to give the ball awat (interceptions).

QUOTE (Arias @ Jun 15 2004, 12:13 PM)

it aint all about stats... if i remember rightly delhomme put on an amazing second half comeback... i just remember thinking after that game how sorry i felt for him after all the effort he put in with his kicker screwing up that kickoff.

i aint saying brady played bad, but if the panthers had got the last second field goal instead then delhomme would of been mvp no doubt.

Well if Jake made a good 2nd half come back, surely Brady must have done the same except in the first half.. Just because he had a good come back in the second dosn't mean he outshone anyone.. someone had to put the points up so that he could come back in the first place. Lets not forget Jake didn't complete his comeback either..

I will agree with ur last comment, if Carolina had won Jake = MVP. But they didn't so Tom =MVP.. smile.gif

I am seriously questioning whether I have been watching the same games as everyone the past couple of years>

How many Pro Bowl lineman do the Patriots have? RB? any WR seriously scare you?

If Belicheck does not start Brady over Bledsoe (Bledsoe could have come back in 2001), the Patriots win 0 Super Bowls. Bledsoe was (is) the most overrated QB in the league. Lots of yardage, but you could count on him to screw up a game. A sack here, an interception off a pass thrown off his back foot there. All Brady does is win and not screw up. Give him an offense like the Rams and he would be unbelievable. And this is coming from someone who hates the Pats but lives in NE and sees all their games.

I would take him on the Browns in a heartbeat.
