As I have previously stated, I feel that Tom Brady is a over-hyped, self indulgent, whiney, lying, peice of crap! And I am a Wolverine fan! *painful* Yes, Brady has SOME skills as a quarterback, but he is primarily a byproduct of the system he plays in and the team he is on. Granted, he has won 2 SB's. yada, yada, yada. Trent Dilfer won a superbowl and nobody gave him a second look. I used to root for the patriots as my second teir team, but once they demoted Bledsoe and let Brady take the helm, I stopped rooting for them. The New England Patriots make Brady good, not Tom. I will bet you that if he went to another team with a different system, he would be no more then a mid-level quarterback. Brady will never be a Favre, Manning, Elway, Marino, Aikman, or a Young. I see Brady more as a Warren Moon, (which is giving him a bit more credit then he deserves as I like d Moon) in that he will always be fairly consistent, but never great. Anyways.....BRING IT ON all you Brady FANBOYS!

the fact of the matter remains is that he's a winner. he was able to learn the pats system well, and make use of every single receiver on the team with no standout. brady is the man and there will be more SBs to come...GO PATS!

also because they beat the RAIDERS that year in the snow... | QUOTE | | Brady will never be a Favre, Manning, Elway, Marino, Aikman, or a Young. |
yeah, i agree with this. i don't think he's going to have his bust in Canton.
but he's still a very good quarterback. but hey, Kurt Warner was a very good quarterback, and look at him now. everyone has their day in the sun, doesn't mean they will be up there with the greats. Guys like Rich Gannon, Dante Culpepper, or even Vinny Testaverde.

Interesting post...as well as, replies! I had already formulated my response, when one of the last replies mentioned the very same QB I was thinking of...but, in a different context!
JOE MONTANA!
I tried to reply using the QUOTE thing, but not sure if it worked (POST VIRGIN!). Anyhow, adding on to the mention that:"...he (Brady) is primarily a byproduct..."
I have always felt that "Golden" Joe was very, VERY over-rated, and successful because of the enormous talent around him! My case will be substantiated when about a half dozen other 80's 49ers are enshrined into the Hall of Fame.
Remember how effective Joe was in poor weather, or when he was getting knocked to the brink of unconsciousness? Don't forget that he also threw to arguably the greatest NFL player in Rice, and worked under one of the greatest offensive minds in Walsh. Now don't get me wrong, he was also very, very good and may have cemented his GREATNESS if... well, that's another post!
As for the succession of blessed 49ers QBs, YOUNG was much better all-around (in my opinion) and they made a big mistake by letting GARCIA go.
TOM BRADY?
In conclusion, Brady is very good for the NFL and he may very well end up with 4, or even more (shudder the thought) Super Bowl rings! Is he GREAT or a product of a superb offensive system, surrounded with talented Pro Bowlers on both sides of the ball? I think most of us agree that he still has several more years of stellar performances to achieve that elusive "greatness"!
THANKS FOR READING...let the "bashing" and "feedback" commence! LOL!

How is he self-indulgent, whiney, or lying??? Yes, Belichick's system does help him somewhat, but he is a good quarterback. He stays cool under pressure and never seems to get rattled. Look at the AFC Championship Game last year. Manning got more and more frustrated and lost his cool more and more the worse things got and the more INTs he threw. Brady throws an INT, but doesn't panic and just waits to get back on and make up for it. With a supporting cast that has a no-name O-line, no standout WR, no superstar RB, he managed to lead them to 2 Super Bowls in three years. He might not be the next Dan Marino, but he is a good QB, probably behind only Manning and McNair.

That's like saying Jordan is over-rated. The best QB I've ever seen and he won a SB 5 years before Rice came to the NFL. But that's another post.... I never liked Chipmunk Cheeks (Brady) but after the Tuck Rule is when I believed Raider fans & some NFL fans liked him less. He's a good QB, time will tell how good he'll be remembered.

What do you mean "fairly consistant, but never great" all great QB's have to be consistant you can't be a wiining QB with arm strength alonebut I do agree on one thing I would not put himin a class with QB's such as Young, or Elway but he is one of the better QB's of our time. He is reliable and intelligent and he knows how not to give the ball awat (interceptions).
